So I'm Thinking...

when Isaak turns 3 on May 19 to change this blogs name to Planet of the Apel's.



I'll have to change the top band then anyhow because it says he's two on it.

Our boy's love rockets, blasting off and I was thinking of Planet of the Ape's. 

Is the name "Planet of the Apel's" cool or lame? What do you think?

Spitters

I bought some Dixi cups to try and teach both boys how to swish water around in their mouth, and to spit out their toothpaste.



We've always used non-fluoride toothpaste. But I'm ready for them to spit the yucky food particles down the drain.



I still catch them swallowing first, then swishing the water and spitting. We'll have to keep working on it. LOL



Mica was practicing the spitting this morning. Isaak said, "WOW that's a cool one Mica! You did a good job!" He liked Mica's ability to spit. Funny kid!



Once we have this down, maybe we can tackle getting them to blow their noses! Both boy's have refused to learn this task. Mica needs to learn how to tie shoes. Isaak needs to learn how to wipe his booty. There's always something!

Nebraska

Mica held up the remainder of his waffle this morning and said, "Hey look it's Nebraska!"



Daddy and I were amazed that he made the connection. Apparently he's been doing the puzzle of the United States in preschool. Smarty pants!

A Lot of Fun While Eating!

I bought these plates downtown this past weekend. Two boy ones, but they sell girl ones too! You can get them at one of my favorite stores online Uncommon Goods for $12. Kind of pricey for a plate, but well worth the fun!!!!!!



They are dishwasher and microwave safe! What I LOVE is that they are ceramic and not plastic. It's hard to find fun ceramic plates. I'd rather them not eat on plastic. I just don't know what chemicals are in the plastic. My kids are past the point of throwing their dishes, but young enough to eat on something fun. Lets face it, I have fun decorating them. The boy's tell me that it's Uncle Eric before he is decorated {he's bald}. LOL

This is what their dinner looked like last night. They ate everything and asked for seconds. I find myself saying, "Ok eat the hair before you can have more of the beard." Right now it works! Isaak doesn't usually prefer broccoli, but he ate it all!

You might be thinking, "What's on his head?" That's his hat, fried chicken. I ground up oatmeal and wheat crackers, mixed in some spices. Shoved the mixture it in a big Zip Lock bag, dipped the chicken in egg, I shake it in the mixture and cook it in Olive Oil. Olive Oil burns a little in the end, but it's so much more healthy then other oils. His hair is steamed broccoli and he has a black grape beard.





Play with your food! I dare you!

We've had some lovely weather :)

Oh the sun has come out to play over the past week and boy am I happy to say 'Hello' to it. We have even had breakfast in the back garden one morning - yes! it was warm enough - crazy I know!! Even Maggie kept running into the house, grabbing a mouth full of her favourite Bran Flakes, spitting them out on the patio and then eating merrily with us (Maggie LOVES her food and eats with great gusto)

The birds were brave and ate right beside us on our super multi feeder. Blue Tits, cheeky little Sparrows, our friendly Robin and recently 2 collared Doves :) I have also seen a Chaffinch but A. hasn't yet and it's a sore point, hehe. Remember to feed the birds, my lovelies - fat balls and peanuts are going down a treat here. I'm just waiting for the day when one of the Pheasants comes bounding in - that would be a sight, or the Falcons that live on top of the power station chimney; actually they might take Maggie off for lunch :O

So with the cherry blossom still looking lovely we have also had visits from bees and butterflies and it's a veritable Disney paradise out there (if you ignore all the building debris and rubbish). Yet another bed has been built and now is waiting patiently to be filled with soil. We have some of our pots round from Mamma  G's house (one of them had an evil snail on the bottom and we didn't realise until the next day and those tell tale sparkly trails - grrrrr I HATE slugs with a passion).



I know, they need watered, I'll do that in a minute!



We still have to plant our tulips in the cherry tree bed but they are looking very healthy and can wait another day. And apart from that, the celeriac seedlings are happy and the broad beans (crimson flowered - thank you Celia) are planted and of course being stared at every 15 mins to see if they've germinated yet - yes I am that sad. :)

We haven't forgotten about the Lottie, honest. I'll do a post from there after the weekend. It's just we've been doing housey stuff and WHY am I defending myself??? !

Off With His Door!

• Many moons ago Mica kept slamming his bedroom door shut. He was trying to keep his little brother and cousin out of his room. I can understand him wanting privacy, but we will not put up with Mica slamming his door. Not only that, but we were worried Mica would hurt Isaak.


• Sure enough it happened! A long time ago Mica slammed Isaak's fingers into the door. Isaak was crying. I went to pick him up, and Isaak's fingers were in Mica's door! Isaak's fingers were flattened like a pancake. I thought we might have to rush to the emergency room, but they seemed to pop back in place after 10 min. Then it took a long time for his fingernails to look normal. We had to let them grow out. Mica lost his door. Daddy took it off the hinges. Along with that, he lost his privacy. Mica had to put up with Isaak and cousin Elijah coming in his room. 


• Mica got his bedroom door back on Christmas Eve. It was one of his presents from us. Then we knew he couldn't hear Santa come in through the fireplace. 


• He was thankful. We talked to him about safety, and not slamming the door.


• The past few weeks Mica started to slam his door again. He was warned two days ago that he'd loose his door if he slammed it.


• Yesterday he slammed his door, and Daddy took it off the hinges again. Mica's bedroom door is now in our garage. Mica pleaded at the time for Daddy not to take it away. Now he seems ok with not having a door.

Prohgress: Definitely the Beastie Boys, they been a huge influence on us from the beginning where we even sampled them on our song "So What" on the Free Wired album, honored they cleared it, but to have them on a song or in a video would be the truth. There's also a band on our label Cherrytree Records named Tokio Hotel that we been seeing kill it internationally, it would be crazy to do something outside the box with them or our other labelmate Robyn who we went on tour with.

(2) Muse vs. (14) Tokio Hotel.Muse squeaked by Cobra Starship in the first round and then made quick work of Weezer in the second, which now puts them in the unenviable position of taking on Tokio Hotel. Last year's big Cinderella team certainly seems to be wearing the glass slipper again, as they have bested Mumford & Sons and Adele despite their lower ranking. Cousin Elijah's Birthday

• We celebrated cousin Elijah's 3rd birthday this weekend. It's hard to believe Elijah and Isaak are that old already! Isaak will be 3 on May 19. 


• We got Elijah a German Shorthaired Pointer thanks to CSN|Stores. I was really excited to get the Melissa and Doug Pooch out of our closet. ;) He was so big, that I couldn't find a box to fit him in. I used the shipping box at Christmas time to wrap something else in. I went to 2 stores to try and find a big gigantic birthday bag to wrap the dog in with no luck. I should have just tried Factory Card and Party Outlet right away; but I didn't think about it at all until the party was started. So the German Shorthaired Pointer got shoved into a black garbage bag.

Mica was sleepy! Can you tell?

Isaak was shy at first. He always is when more then one family is on the scene. At present opening time he warmed up to everyone. He even sat on cousin Elijah and Evan's Great Grandma's lap {from their other side}. At the end of the night he called her "Grandma," which she's not his Grandma, but that's ok. 

Isaak was curious! It's like he's thinking, "I wonder if I can play with this ginormous dog?"

Everybody got a chance to play with the toys {if they wanted to}. Even Uncle Tyson enjoyed playing with the dog!

The night ended with Evan playing in the bike box, and Great Grandma Kent wanting him out of the box, stories of snakes, boy's playing and laughter.



Aunt Terra said this morning, "Elijah has been sleeping with the dog every night - good thing he has a full size bed - it takes up half of it!!!!"

March Madness - The Hairpocalypse Winner Revealed

March is nearly over and with it ends the madness. Well... a kind of madness, anyway. All that remains is to declare the winner. So! Envelope, please. Drum roll.  Your 2011 winner for most *memorable* hair goes to none other than Angelus's upper lip. Let's give a big hand for the 'Stache Supreme!

 

This award goes out to facial hair everywhere, really.  It's a sign that, even though mustaches often get a bad rap, that some said that facial hair didn't count as proper hair, and even though marriage equality may still be a long way off for two mustaches of the same gender... I can say with complete sincerity: It gets better.

Thanks to all you Mad Marchers out there.  It's been a blast!

Seeds and seed swapping :)

Oh dearie me we through out a heck of a lot of out of date seeds last week. Here is the carnage...oh goodness blogger won't let me post the photo - even it's ashamed!

Some were from 2009 - oh for shame! But compared to the number of seed we do have and the variety this was okay, through next year I reckon we'll be buying a lot more as the use by date on many of the ones for this year won't be viable for another season.

But this is where a cool new UK based seed swap website comes into play. Set up only very recently Seed Swappers is a cool new site where you can do exactly what it says in the title - swap seeds! Such a cool idea when you want to try as many different varities as you can without spending a load of money - just buy a few packets and share the seed with others and they can give you those seeds you have wanted to try and it's all just the cost of a stamp AND you aren't wasting lots of perfectly good seeds (like we did - see photo again *blush*).

Give it a wee looking at and there is a blog to go with it too, where the lady who set it up 'Splodger' will be talking about what to plant when. Plus, there is a Facebook page (where I am an admin) were you can keep up to date as well. I personally think it's a great idea and encourage you to take a look xxx

Tattoo tubuh sepertinya sudah menjadi hal yang umum saat ini. Bila dahulu tato identik dengan dunia kejahatan, para pelaut & geng motor, maka saat ini tato sudah menjadi hiasan tubuh yang populer & digunakan oleh orang banyak.

Gambar yang digunakan bukan lagi hanya tengkorak, jangkar ataupun kapal perang, tetapi beragam mulai dari lambang tradisonal, design tumbuhan/hewan ataupun simbol pribadi untuk mengekspresikan diri.

Bila termasuk salah seorang yang berniat untuk membuat tattoo tubuh, maka sebelum pergi ke studio tattoo & membuat tattoo, sebaiknya perhatikan dulu beberapa hal berikut ini.

Tattoo sendiri adalah luka dari tusukan, yang dibuat didalam kulit & kemudian diberi tinta. Tattoo dibuat dengan cara menusukkan jarum ke kulit & kemudian dimasukkan tinta ke wilayah tersebut.

Yang membuat tattoo menjadi tahan lama, adalah karena tinta tersebut dimasukkan bukan kedalam epidermis (lapisan teratas kulit yang, sering mengelupas & diproduksi lagi seumur hidup). Menurut AAD (The American Academy of Dermatology) terdapat 5 jenis tato menurut fungsi & proses terjadinya, yaitu sebagai berikut :

Tattoo akibat bekas luka
Biasanya disebabkan karena adanya debu atau serpihan didalam kulit, sehingga akan timbul pigmentasi setelah lukanya sembuh. Tattoo ini biasanya terjadi karena luka akibat kecelakaan di jalan raya.

Tattoo amatir
Biasanya dibuat sendiri atau oleh teman & tidak terlalu mengedepankan fungsi artistiknya. Cara yang biasa dipakai adalah dengan menggoreskan jarum/peniti yang sudah diberi tinta kedalam kulit. Untuk pewarna yang bisa digunakan, dapat berupa tinta india, tinta pulpen, arang atau abu.

Tattoo profesional
Tattoo profesional dapat dibagi menjadi 2 bagian, tato modern & tato etnik. Tattoo etnik biasanya dibuat dengan metode etnik tertentu yang diwariskan secara turun temurun, seperti misalnya pada masyarakat dayak atau di pulau pasifik. Sedangkan tato modern, dibuat dengan menggunakan alat khusus pembuat tattoo, di studio tattoo oleh seniman tattoo. Pigmentasi yang terjadi dapat bervariasi melalui penggunaan beragam warna pada tattoo yang dibuat.

Tattoo medis
Biasanya digunakan untuk menggambar area tubuh yang akan diradiasi. Tattoo medis biasanya dilakukan oleh dokter.

Tattoo kecantikan
Digunakan untuk membuat make-up permanen, seperti eye liner, lip liner, lipstick, alis mata & rambut. Tattoo kosmetik juga dapat digunakan untuk menggambar puting payudara setelah melakukan operasi payudara, menyamarkan vitiligo (kelainan pigmen warna pada kulit) atau menutupi tato yang tidak diinginkan.

It Snowed

• I came back from KC last night. It started snowing. 


• Pretty, but come on where is spring? 


• Now we have a slushy mess!


• Oh...and I had a small classroom today after our trip yesterday and snow today. Boo! I gave a new assignment!

A Trip to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art

• Another teacher and I took my students for a 3 hour road trip to Kansas City yesterday. We went to an advertising agency and The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. 


• It was fun, but a long day.  I taught Tuesday, Wednesday, went to KC Thursday and taught again on Friday! Busy week!

This is one of my favorites in the museum! A security guard sculpture by Duane Hanson. There's always one student who thinks he's real!

I liked liked this early painting by Vincent van Gogh! I liked it because it reminded me of Grandpa Spiehs {Dad}. It looks like him and it looks like a few of his art pieces.
