Thanks MC thats a valid Point.
There are 2 reasons that I thought of for not applying / renewing.
1) I'm not planning on going anywhere after / atleast for a year.
2) My wife's AP filed last year took Six months to get approved and what happens if you fly out while your AP is pending / sent for renewal. I read in this forum, not fly out, while you AP is pending.

Was wondering how is the experience of getting PIO card from Indian Embassy @ DC. Checked the site and it seems it takes 45 business days for them to issue a PIO card which for any other consulate (SFO/NYC/Chicago/Houston) is around 2 weeks ...

This is news to me also. Once my current H1 expires I'm also planning to work on EAD and change to H4. One attorney adviced me to do that so that in case something happens to our I-485, I'll be on H4 and be still on status in this country to appeal for an MTR.
Another attorney told me to just work on EAD, no need to file H4 but I can if that will give me a peace of mind.
But what this attorney described here make sense too. If working on EAD invalidates H1, it should invalidate H4 also. But then again like the OP said I have known people who were on H4 and started working when they got EAD and extended their H4.
Is it different in case its the beneficiary of the I485 thats moving to H4?

J. is right. Manual focus and exposure bracketing are what you need to do. I have a D70 and have learned quite a lot with it, as you will. I take a meter reading in the auto mode and then switch to manual mode enter in the same settings and adjust as needed. Usually with a smaller aperture (larger number).

To my knowledge you can start working after you apply for the SSN, and you show your EAD and SSN application as a proof to your employer.
However some employers insist on SSN in those cases it will be a problem

Hi
We are in AOS pending status.iam on EAD.
After seeing the economy Iam planning to send my wife to india. She is pregnant ( 2 months).
Now I have job and in future if I get into any trouble with project Etc.. I need to pay the medical insurance and will have lot of financial issues.
How difficult is to bring new infant to US from India while our AOS is pending and apply 485.
( Visito visa Etc..)
Any suggestions.

Guys, Suggest me a good consulting company. My employer is OK until now and he just started demanding money even for H1 extensions. I am seriously thinking of moving. Please suggest good desi consulting companies who can support my GC and keep min billing. I have a very good project in hand
My ex-employer processed my h1b and applied for GC with no cost to me. I worked for about 3.5 years and then moved to the client where I was working as a consultant. I had a good relationship and I was treated exceptionally well as I always fought for what I deserved. Now the company has grown bigger and excpetions are not made but they are fair (upto 90%)
If you wish to you can explore with them and if required can talk to me too.

nothing to worry about, it happened to me too,
I opened an SR and two weeks later my wife got FP and I didn't, I thought I'll wait for a week or two but in vain. When I gave a follow-up call I came to know that FP was scheduled at my Attorney's place (I live in west coast and I was scheduled to attend FP at ASC in East coast) and the twist is my attorney never received it.on top of it when I asked the Rep about possibility of scheduling an FP at my place she advised me to file AR-11 form, at this point it was very clear to me that Rep doesn't have a clue on what she is talking about. the very next day I was luck to get hold of nice rep who said I quote
" I don't understand why these people schedule FP at attorney�s location"
he apologized and said he will open an SR to reschedule at my location and he assured me that this time it will be at my location, which I got in couple of weeks.
Hope you will get your FP notice soon.

if the principal files 485 now and then gets married say 2-3 months later when the dates are NOT current, can a dependent 485 be filed for the spouse so that she can get EAD?
I was told that even in the case of a dependent 485 filing, the dates have to be current for the application to be accepted :(
On related lines, if the principal application gets EAD and after 6 months moves to a new job based on EAD, and then he gets married, can he bring his spouse on H4? I think the answer is NO.

Just got response for my SR saying there is a RFE on my case and the letter is sent to my attorney. No update or no SLUD, LUD online. No RFE on spouse case but still waiting.

Can you please update on what your lawyer advised to do? I had a misdemeanor (non traffic) charge in 01, that was dismissed as Nolle Prosequi (lack of evidence). I totally forgot about the incident and filed for 485 (self mailed on 6/30) Jul 2nd with out choosing YES. I got the disposition charges from the county court today and I need to update my case before I have further issues. I was NOT finger printed. NO Fines, NO community service, NO Probation and a normal criminal history record check at the county shows NONE. I never had issues with H1B stamping and traveling in and out of US. My labor is not substituted. My 140 is already approved
Can you please send me a PM with what forms your law firm is filing with USCIS? Are they planning to file a motion to reconsider by any chance? (or) Are you just filling another 485 form as an amendment? I don't have my receipts yet. If you can share your law firm info as well in a PM, it would be great.

How to send USCIS the document with out RFE? I heard that documentation sent without RFE's do not get the proper treatment. I am not saying that I will not send one in my case, but I would like to know the correct way to send documentation so that I can send the disposition as soon as I get receipts. I am also looking for an attorney and will not be doing this myself. I am just getting info as much as I can here. I am also filing for expungement as soon as I talk with an Immi attorney.
If I hire a different attorney than the company attorney, What kind of documentation would he/she require from my company? My company did not provide me with a copy of labor cert. I have a copy of approved 140. I am assuming I can get a copy of my labor cert through FOIA. Can some confirm that?
