We should all post pictures of ourselves so that when we respond to posts people can picture us in their heads.
Oh, don't worry... I think people already picture each other in their heads. Just probably incorrectly in most cases. ;)

If the OP thought $999.99 was bad, he should've scrolled down more. Highest price is $2475.00

This was a rent a cop and not an Apple employee, right?
Nearly without fail, everyone who tries to enforce a photography ban is some form of rent-a-cop (or the DC Park Police, if you're downtown). In fact, he was wearing the usual RTC parking monitor garb, so yes. Paul Blart, self-appointed Apple Event Press Liaison :D
In addition to the formidable rent-a-cop contingent, there was also on hand an imposing display of armed Fairfax County (actual) Sheriffs and Reston's Finest.

I'm on the mac and I was trying DiscAid and iPhone Explorer, PhoneView and all of them are showing that iPhone is passcode locked. I know the passcode but while screen was broken she put this so many times that now it doesn't even let you put passcode it just asks for iTunes.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but...
If you simply see the 'Connect to iTunes' with a USB plug and the iTunes icon, its more than likely that she had the option to 'erase content after 10 failed passcode attempts' checked when she set up her passcode. By entering the code so many times she may have inadvertently deleted the pics herself... along with everything else.
I hope this isn't the case and that she does get her photos back but if you connect it to iTunes and the only option is to restore there may not be anything left on the phone already...

I have just purchased an apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse,
Yeah, I use a Apple wireless keyboard and the Magic Trackpad with my MBP and external. I don't bother with a stand at all.

I did just that, threw my unused iPhone 4 sim in my new iPad 2 and got a nasty message this morning from AT&T basically telling me that I had 30 days to get a proper plan on it or I would be cut off.
I called AT&T and had them switch my iPhone 4 plan to the iPad post pay plan and it's all good!
I was actually surprised that they did it, but ask for a supervisor. The front line reps are not trained well on the new post pay plans.
If you just want to do it occasionally, you probably should be fine but just be aware that they can almost immediately tell if you switch em.

Good thing you reminded me about the mall opening time, I was thinking we would be able to line up outside but since my local Apple Store is in a mall we will only be able to start lining up once the mall opens, right?
my mall has a 24 hour parking garage so the mall is open 24 hours- though the stores arent..

Hi Guys & Gals,
I'm going to make the jump to an Intel SSD this weekend to replace my stock 320GB (5400 RPM) Drive in the 2010 Mac Mini.
Those of you that have actually done this, did you find that the Logic Board really needed to be shifted at all? I've been looking at the OWC installation Video and it would seem to me that the drive will lift out over the Logic Board without moving the board at all. It would mean that I would only have to detach the first SATA and two heat connectors. The least amount of connectors I have to pull the better I would assume. Also, I'm thinking that the black vinyl covering wrapped around the 320GB drive is there to protect the moving/electrical drive components on the bottom of the drive, which I would not need on the SSD. I know that I need/should replace the piece of tape to hold the heat sensor wire on the new SSD.
Any help would be great.....:)
2010 Mac Mini (2.4MHz - 8GB RAM Intel 80GB SSD(pending)) Air Port Extreme, 2TB Mini Stack External Dive, 16GB WiFi iPad, 32GB iPhone 3GS.
I have not done an SSD per say, but I have made a little side business upgrading the hard drive on 2010 Mac Mini's and selling them on ebay. After having done 10 or so of these, yes you do need to pull the logic board out slightly. The hard drive will not lift up enough to give you the angle you need clear the logic board with out pulling it out.
That said, only pull it out enough to see a small gap of air between the black beisl in the rear and the alum case.
WRT the heat sensors... I have found that the smallest amount of rubber cement works well if you you loose the adhesive when transferring the sensor. 8/10 times you will have plenty of stick left though and wont need to add any.
The black cover I have also assumed was there for air flow as well. If the SSD has a smooth surface, and no logic board to short, you probably can do away with it.

Hi - I am an avid macrumors guy and usully hang on the ipad and iphone forums but I think I may need a MacbookAir. Here's my need
I give 75 size slide shows with a projector and use Keynote..the i pad does it, but won't let me use the iPhone as a remote - only the macbooks do that..also when multitasking really heav,y and throwing lots of slides up, the ipad become a bit jerky due to it's memory( yes I;m using the new Ipad2).
My company has said get the air if I need it
do I need it?
I can get stuff in and out using dropbox so I don;'t think I need the cd player?
and was just going to get work or is office the ticket - or both?
thanks in advance

The impedance affects more than just the volume it also affects the quality of the sound pretty significantly.

I have been trying out several Cydia apps on a Touch 4. Hmm.
I Always use sbsettings, no problems. But when I add others they all have glitches. I've slowly backed out of other apps I added due to conflicts.
Barrel seems to work okay.
lockinfo never keeps settings I set and is glitchy.
SbRotate is cool but seems to conflict with other apps.
I even removed the all in one Springtomize cause of all the conflicts and I couldnt isolate them.
I loaded a tv type off app and it stopped working.
I love what many developers are doing but not satisfied with implementation. If you have lots of hours you can probably isolate these issues. I'm not saying these apps are necessarily glitchy, but on my touch, 4.3.1 they are not glitch free.

They already do look alike. Honestly, most average people won't know the difference. I've already had people ask me if my new touch is an iPhone.
Same here! I was using an app that provided me 20% on a merchandise and the sales asked me how I got it on my "iPhone.":D

Why not just update to 4.3? Unless you have your 3.1.3 SHSH blobs saved, you can't restore to an older firmware.

The biggest drawback with your current machine is the 3GB memory. Lightroom is much happier with 4GB or more. I used to have a late 2006 MBP15 and LR was sluggish with 3GB.
I should think the faster CPU will have a much greater effect on performance than the GPU. GPU speed is really only relevant for games and video rendering.
I have a personal preference for matte displays. I used to own a black Santa Rosa Macbook and I was not happy with the display. It was largely useless unless you were in a location where you could control reflections and glare. The added screen real estate in the 15 is useful too, and I felt constrained by the resolution of the 13" display. I have traveled with my MBP15 to Asia a couple of times, and its size and weight are easily manageable on trips.

Looks really good. I did notice one typo though. You've got Combodrive listed for the eMac Superdrive model's optical drive.

Well, if you know someone in a Bio lab who handles ordering ...
Whatman is having a special through Fisher Scientific, where if you spend $300+ on Whatman products, they give you a free 512 Ipod Shuffle. It is trivial to spend this much if you do a lot of protein work. Nitrocellulose membranes are pretty expensive, and Whatman Optitran is good stuff. Some labs are spending this amount anyway every couple of months for membranes.

Unless they change the power supply the only thing really to update is either the price or the capacity.
I thought they had fixed the capacitor problem. The first batch (1 year+) was dying, but have they continued to die for newer models?
