Your mention of 30 miles maximum, I believe, refers to distance to your work place. It is a lot of distance to commute at rush time. Nevertheless, Ferederick County is your best bet, where a small SFH or a good size TH can be found for your price.
BTW, why do you need "Lots of Indians". Don't you want to be part of the main stream if you have decided to live here?

3> Very low crime rate
4> Rental value should be same as mortgage amount+insurance+PMI+property tax
5> Property values should be in 300K range max
6> Lot of Indians

Simple Answer is NO
*If 140 premium processing reinstated in the near future, at least 3-4 weeks before your H1B expires.
It is difficult to obatain approved vacation from my employer.

Also I forgot to add, did you file form G28 for your attorney to represent you in your 485 case? I am just thinking out aloud here and please verify with your lawyer....
If your attorney is representing you, then he gets the original RFE with the yellow letter and has to respond on your behalf with the info..you only get a copy of the RFE letter.
In my case, my attorney is not representing me and hence I got all the originals and it's my responsibility to respond to the RFE, not the lawyers.
Once again, these are just my thoughts. IV seniors can respond and also ask your lawyer.

You can travel with old visa and new approval i797. I have traveled with these documents and no problem at POE. No need to get new stamping.
You cannot travel with old visa and only receipt of H1 transfer because when you apply a petition you have to be in the country till it is approved. If you travel, some lawyers are of the opinion that the application gets invalidated.
I was in such a situation and I used premium processing and went with the new I-797.
Hope this helps. Also consult your lawyer if you decide to go with the receipt notice only.

Dear IV Friends,
After reading the title you people must be thinking that i got my GC or 485 approved but the fact is I Finally got my PERM filed this month. The purpose of this thread is to inform anyone who is waiting for PERM withdrawal that it took THREE months to withdrawal my OLD perm application. I hope no one is in this situation.
Whenever i use to post something on IV, folks use to have a generic answer "update your profile" but i couldn't as i was waiting to file my PERM. This for those people who always wanted me to update my profile. Checkout my Priority date is April 09 :D in my profile
I am in my 5th year of H1b hope this time i get my PERM approved. In my earlier Green card process i have already been through this queue two times and now i have to start allover again.

2) My wife's AP filed last year took Six months to get approved and what happens if you fly out while your AP is pending / sent for renewal. I read in this forum, not fly out, while you AP is pending.
This is not an issue in your case. It's okay to travel out while your AP application is pending as long as you have a valid current AP. I did this last year after my lawyer confirmed this to me. I also remember seeing a USCIS memo to this effect.

I am planning to stay back for 1 more month ,i.e till end of July and try for a project. As it is near to impossible to get a H1 Transfer without a project, I would like to hold on for H1 Transfer for now. If l can manage to get a project ..say in 3rd or 4th week of July, can I be able to get a H1 Transfer approved without any issues or RFEs. My last paycheck was issued for the week ending June 28th, 2009. So I can provide a Paystub of only a prior month, if I apply for possible H1 Transfer. Will this be good enough .

I came to US in 2004, my H1 visa was sponsored by cognizant technology solutions. H1 was valid from Nov 04 to Dec 06. later on my I 94 was extended from Dec 06 to July 09 .
I changed company and joined wipro in Aug 08 and now my I 94 is now valid till July 2010.
I have never gone back to India for a visit ever since I landed in US (2004)..I now want to go to India for few months and have read that i'll have to get my visa stamped before reentering US...
My question is if i'll have any problems with visa stamping because I was originally working with cognizant and am now working with wipro?..Am I out of status since my original visa expired in 2006 ?...pls help

The date in 'Receipt Date' field on your 485 form is the start date of your 90 days calculation.

I sent my EAD extension documents on 7/9 via FedEx to Nebraska. They recvd it on 7/11 morning and got signature proof. Can you please let me know how many days it take for the check to be encashed? This will be helpful. Thanks!!

Can any one tell the time between check cleared and Notice issued. My lawyer sent the checks and he will never bother checking his account daily for me. Hence Notice is the only thing i will get.
Same thing here. Even the notice will go to the lawyer's office and they won't bother telling me unless asked a few times.
Other than the physical notice, I guess we can get the receipt numbers by calling them once we see a substantial number of members getting the numbers/notices.

I filed on first week of feb. My 6 yrs with recapture ends in april 2011. Is it possible to go out of country some time in june 2010 and recapture more time ?

You can call your parents here for graduation. As someone mentioned an Univ letter will def make a difference.
However "sponsoring" is a bit more tricky, given that you are on F1. If you hav steady income GA/RA you can use that to support.If you have savings from your OPT, you can use that as well. the thing taht is tricky is you do have to assume a certain amount of expense for parents for the period that they may be in US and compare that to your savings, if you are the sponsorer.
Their rejections will be in the db and could be a bother, esp if you are the only child (not sure if that is in US or you have siblings in India). Your parents will need solid proof to convince that they intend to return.Something like a return airticket etc could make some difference

Same situation here. As per my lawyer (good lawyer can be trusted but could be ill informed) If my wife doesn't join the employer there is no status change. No need to file any reinstatement from H4 to H1. And I have reconfirmed this a couple of times now.

I am pretty sure your lawyer is wrong. Many lawyers assume the same rule of H-1 to H-1 transfer applies everywhere which is not the case. A change of status is not the same as H-1 to H-1.
A H-4 to H-1 will take effect on October 1st. The surest way to not let this happen is if she has a valid H-4 visa stamp. She can get out of the country on Sep 30 and return back on Oct 02 as H-4.
The other alternative is to apply for a H-1 to H-4 status change and wait it out. This status change is not effective until approval which can take a while. Meanwhile she will be on H-1 without pay which is not good.
There may be a third choice where the employer cancels the H-1b as she does not intend to join. Then she is in 485 status from October 1st and can apply for a h-4 extension. we recently received 1 year EAD. I called USCIS regarding incorrect Validity period. They told me the send the I765 form again along with original EAD for fixing it.
