where do we get to read the receipt number from the back of the check ?..i see so many ppl write that they cud get the receipt number from the back of the check and with that the cud track the fate of receipt notice.The back of my cleared check has so many numbers but they are all overlapping and unreadable.Do any1 else has the same issue?
can any1 tell what is the window period b ween check clearance and recipt notice?

I applied recently for refinancing on H1B (1 yr extensions) and did not face any issues. I had to provide additional documentation like the 485 receipt, apart from that no issues.

It doesnt matter at what day you apply, there are a lot of applications "pending" from before that will take up the "available" visa numbers, we still have to go through name check and other stuff that takes forever :D its a black hole all you can do is pray and hope your application gets looked at soon and the visa #'s stay current for atleast another 3 months.

The answer to ur fulltime on H1 is NO...even a leave of absense wont help..as you are not a citizen..and every non citizen has to be on F1 if in FT program.....
Will you still get paid when u are a full time student..if no..then ur employment visa is invalid without paystubs...dont u agreee..;-)
if you want to be on H1..u are better off pursuing a PT program!..if ur GC comes thru..switch to FT...

I respectfully disagree with your comment on no full time MBA on H-1. I infact know this first hand as one of my friends finished his full time MBA on H-1. His company was nice enough to keep him on the payroll but gave him 2 yrs of leave of absence. He is now back working for the same company. The only down side to his approach was that he ended up losing 2 yrs of his H-1 but his goal was to come back and work for the same company, so he didn't care.

If you are going to stay 2 yrs in Canada, you might as well spend 1 more yr and become a Canadian citizen.
I actually have a similar question. I am in the exact same situation. The question is that in this case if you have an H1 stamped in your passport, is it ok to travel to US on that H1 ? or would you need a B2 tourist visa to travel ?
I am asking since technically you are employed by same employer but you are getting paid by Candian payroll not US Payroll.
Technically, your H1-B visa is invalidated the moment you stop getting paid in the US. I do know of a lot of people who managed to re-enter the US with an old stamped H1-B; but definitely not advisable. A particularly suspicious US immigration officer in canada once asked to show my latest pay stub to prove that I am still employed with the employer who sponsored my H1-B visa !!

The spreadsheet is totally sorted now according to the PD. I had to make one change though. The day of the month of PD was not mentioned and I had to write something to sort it out. I made it 1st of the month for everybody to be able to so sorting. I guess we can live with that abstraction.
Some people are not acting responsibly on the data. I made changes now. I brought the data back and also you will have to login into your gmail account now tobe able to make changes.

Because the PDs are valid for the whole month I guess the date of filing should not matter it as long as it is before 30th June, I think.
Do you think it does affect us in some way?
I heard from a lawyer today that after the July bulletin gets published USCIS can easily (doesn't neccessarily mean they will) return those 485s for which PD turns out to be not current anymore if they were received after the July bulletin (and if priority dates retrogress again, of course)

I am trying to figure out the same and after rigorous communication with my lawyer and a few companies, I came to an estimate that it may take anywhere between, atleast 12-18 mnths on a thumb rule. Again, I understand its on a case by case basis.
Reasons ::
(1) Most of Desi companies filed under Eb2. Those are EB3 are mostly from american companies. And even if they qualified for Eb2 , companies filed for Eb3. So its any one 's guess that these companies will file new Eb2.
(2) Process takes 12- 18 months even if companies are ready
(3) Eb2 has tough criteria and lots of scrutiny.
(4) Desi companies are scared to file for new Eb2 when their H1bs are under review too.

I have registered an LLC on wife's EAD. She is the sole owner of the company and working as a contractor for another company and getting salary on her company's name. Before she registered this company she never used her EAD. She is/was on H4 visa.
What needs to be done to make sure she in on her EAD now and not on H4 anymore?
How she can become an employee of her own company and get payed every 15 days.
What needs to be done to run a payroll and pay herself salary on monthly or bi-monthly basis?
Please advise.

the vo seems to be saying that last time when he went to stamping he filled his client details like where he working and which was az at that time and this VO was saying now you are working in NJ ,the confusion seems to becaused by the clinet letter in which his manager wrote that he directly reports to him as consultant,VO is assuming that he working here without preoper documents,atleast that what i understood:confused:.

Yes but where did you do your Bachelors and in what?
Reason I am asking is, I have seen I-140s got rejected for some folks where the person did 3 years Bachelors or AMIE eventhough they had MS in USA (Specially with EB-2 cases).

Actually, I don't think there really is a ROW is there? Isn't it just that 193 country columns isn't practical.

China for instance has been in and out. In 1999 it was its own column, became part of ROW in 2002 and now again has its own column:

Im in the same boat as you. I just bought a D70 and it came with almost the same exact len kit. Ive had lots of fun/luck witht he 70-300mm at my kids softball games. I got some great shots of the kids at the plate , running, fielding etc...
Back to your original question....I just bought a magazine this week by ShutterBug - Digital Photography How-To Guide. One of the articles is about choosing the next lens for your digital SLR. Well worth the price for us rookies :p

I have no experience at all with SLR cameras, and have recently bought a bundle consisting of a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S Dxlens. Now I am interested in buying another lens (The Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF Zoom Lens) in hope that these two lenses would suit my needs in amateur photography. I intend to photo landscapes, portraits and some ''macro'' (flowers and some insects). So, I would like to know if these lenses are an acceptable choice, having in mind that I can't afford to buy some expensive lenses, as my average monthly salary almost amounts to the price of these cheap ones.
